The roots of this independent veterinary practice in Kingstanding were formed in  1987 when Rory Lydon opened a small surgery in Rough road.

Lydon Veterinary Centre In 1997, we moved to the present premises  which was completely refurbished and extended to create the practice it is today ..

CatWe are a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons approved Training Practice for veterinary nurses, ensuring the highest possible standards. All staff members are dedicated to keeping abreast of the latest veterinary advances, and Mr Lydon has just completed several courses  in Feline Medicine,Canine Medicine , assuring all our patients the best care possible.

It is my aim for the Veterinary Centre to remain at the forefront of Pet healthcare in North Birmingham and the new centre offers air conditioning, computerised records, two consulting rooms, pet healthcare room, dedicated preparation and operating room, separate dog and cat recovery wards, combined with the latest equipment all ensure your pet gets the best treatment possible.

Here at Lydon Veterinary Centre , our experienced ,dedicated and professional team of staff understand why your pets are such important family members. With a more friendly and personal approach to animal care ,we offer not only first class veterinary treatment ,but advice help and encouragement for our clients, helping keep your pets in the very best of health.

As an independent Veterinary practice , we can provide you with the most suitable medication for your pet ,based on our professional judgement , with no ‘tied’ allegiance  to a particular veterinary medicine supplier .We look forward to welcoming you and your pet to our surgery

We would like to state  that we are an Independent Practice , not a Veterinary Chain, Franchise, Venture Partnership or Corporate as featured in BBC Panorama and have been providing quality veterinary care to our clients pets for 25 years. The choice of medicine stocked , and used to treat your pet in this practice is decided totally by the people in the practice, not by an external panel as in some practices . Every year we have work experience children from local schools who see everything we do . Three work experience students have become or are in the middle of their professional course to become qualified  veterinary surgeons.

We are also a RCVS Nurse Training Practice which requires the practice to have  Qualified Veterinary Nurses employed … giving you confidence that your pet is being monitored and  nursed by qualified staff at all times, including Saturdays.
