Please note up to 24 hours notice is required to issue a prescription, dispense repeat POM-V or POM-VPS prescription only medication or provide medicine on a prescription which has been issued by another Veterinary Practice.  In all cases authorisation from our duty Veterinary Surgeon is required.

Under current UK legislation a Veterinary Surgeon may provide a prescription or dispense veterinary medicinal products from their  veterinary practice or pharmacy only after a clinical assessment of an animal under his/her care.

Patients on long-term repeat medication must be assessed and examined by your Veterinary Surgeon every 3 months.

A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal is an in-patient, or immediate treatment is necessary.

Your pets health and well-being is of the utmost importance to us, therefore it is very important that all medication given is recorded on your pets medical history.  All prescriptions issued from this practice will be generated from our own computer system which will automatically place the details into your pets medical notes.  Please do not ask us to sign pre prepared prescriptions from other pharmacies or on those which have been down loaded from the internet.

Most medications are dispensed during consultations and after examinations by the veterinary surgeon.

Current legislation requires to carry out regular re-examinations to confirm the usefulness of the medication, the accuracy of the dosage and the absence of significant side effects.

Most long term conditions will require a veterinary re-examination at no more than 3 month intervals subject to the judgement of the clinician in charge of the case.

For owners requiring ongoing supplies of medication we will endeavour to prepare prescriptions within 24 hours.

Please telephone the surgery to order repeat prescriptions.
